Description: Taking advantage of the new understandings in food science, science educators have an opportunity to provide topically relevant lessons in food science for their students. To prepare teachers to do this requires a sustained effort. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) have joined as partners to initiate and implement a professional development program in Food Science consistent with the National Science Education Standards. This resource is appropriate for all users as it provides useful background information to enhance STEM teaching and learning for all.
